The 2 stones

Long ago a father owed ( مدیون بودن ) money to a man who was old and cruel ( ظالمانه ). The cruel, old man went to the father and said, "I will forgive ( بخشیدن ) the money you owe me if you give me your daughter in marriage."
The father was shocked ( شوکه ). His daughter was young, kind, and beautiful. The father said, "I will never do this!"
So the cruel, old man said, "Then you must give me the money you owe me now or I will put you in prison ( زندان )."

    The daughter cried
(گریستن) and said, "My father wait (منتظر ماندن)! Let us put 2 little stones ( سنگ ها ) in a bag: one white and one black.
I will put my hand in the bag and choose
( برای انتخاب ) 1 stone.  If I chose the black stone, I will marry the old man. If I chose the white stone, the old man must forgive your debt ( بدهی ) and I will not be his wife."
The cruel old man agreed ( موافقت کرد ) and bent down to get 2 stones. But the daughter saw that he got 2 black stones and put them in the bag!  He then told the daughter to put her hand into the bag and choose (برای انتخاب) one stone.
She chose a stone, but before looking at it the stone she purposely ( به عمد ) dropped it on the ground but made it look like an accident ( تصادف ).  The daughter said, "Oh, no! I am so clumsy ( دست و پا چلفتی )! But don't worry ( نگران نباش )!  We can look in the bag and see what stone is left. Then we will know which one I chose."
Of course, the stone in the bag was black! The cruel, old man understood how clever
( باهوش ) the girl was but he could do nothing. So the debt was forgiven and the young daughter remained ( باقی ماندن ) with her family. Remember:
For every problem ( مشکل ) there is an answer. It is always possible ( ممکن است ) to think and not give in ( تسلیم شدن ) to dishonest demands ( خواسته های غیر صادقانه ).
