#10: Words

Reading words about truth, about doing right (درست), and about moral courage ( شجاعت اخلاقی ) is a good way to stay strong ( قوی ). This is a story about a man who never stopped writing the truth. Sometimes the words were just for himself. But then they became words that helped other people.
Stojan lived in a part of the world in Europe called the Balkans. It is very beautiful. It was made beautiful by many different cultures ( فرهنگ های مختلف ) of people living together peacefully and sharing ( اشتراک گذاری ) their beauty with each other.
Stojan was a journalist ( روزنامه نگار ). Stojan knew the power (قدرت) of words. He knew the power of truth ( حقیقت ).

Stojan knew you can't live with lies. It's like trying to breathe ( نفس کشیدن ) dirty air. One day you begin to under-stand that you can't breathe anymore
( دیگر هیچ ). Stojan knew that war was coming in the Balkans. It was the early 1990s. He warned ( هشدار دادن ) people with his words. But how did he know that war was coming?
Stojan knew that every war starts with words that aren't true, words that make people from different ( مختلف ) cultures and religions hate each other
( از یکدیگر متنفر باشید ).
He knew it was his work to write the truth; to write that hatred ( نفرت ) is not the way. Stojan did not stop the war with his words. But his words
stopped many lies ( دروغ ). His words gave many people courage and hope. His words said it is possible ( ممکن ) to live with love. He refused to fight ( حاضر به مبارزه نشد ) with guns in the war. He fought ( او جنگید ) with words of truth.
