Daughters of promise: daughters that will succeed ( موفق شدن ).
Rehman's life was not easy ( آسان نیست ) from the day she was born
(بدنیا آمدن). She was born in Pakistan. Her parents ( والدین ) were refugees from Afghanistan. Rehman almost died ( تقریبا مرده ) when she was born. Her father was so happy that she lived that he vowed ( او نذر کرد ) to educate her and help her be a doctor.
Rehman's father was strong ( قوی ). His friends criticized ( انتقاد شدید ) him. They did not want his daughter to go to school. They said girls should marry and work at home. Rehman's father did not listen (گوش دادن ) to them. He worked 2 jobs (شغل ها) every day to send his daughter to school.
Rehman did not know she was a refugee until ( تا زمان ) she applied ( درخواست دادن برای ) to go to secondary school. Before that
( قبل از آن زمان ), she went
to a refugee school.
At her new school, there was no friend to guide (برای هدایت) Rehman and tell her what to do. But her motivation ( انگیزه ) to help Afghan women gave her strength ( استحکام ). She wanted to study midwifery ( مامایی ) and be a doctor.
She worked hard. She won ( برنده شدن ) an award (جایزه) to go to college. Rehman finished (تکمیل کردن) a 5-year course. She went to work at a family hospital in 2015. The hospital helps both ( هر دو ) Afghan people and local people. She was so happy helping Afghan women!
But she wanted more. She wanted her own clinic ( درمانگاه )! Refugees have
limited rights ( حقوق محدود ) to work or have their own business. She tried to get a license
(برای مجوز اقدام کنید) many, many, MANY times. Finally she was allowed ( اجازه داده شد تا ) to open her own clinic. She tells young Afghan women that they need to work hard and have patience ( صبر و استقامت ) and they WILL succeed! She is sure of it ( چیز مطمئنی ).
