#36 Correcting wrongs

CORRECTING WRONGS ( اصلاح اشتباهات )

There are certain African tribes ( قبایل ) where a mother makes up a special song for her baby when the baby is born. The mother sings the song to him or her every day.  The song expresses ( عنوان کردن ) the child’s nature ( کیفیت ها ).
Every child's song is also taught to the whole village. When the child starts to walk or starts to school, for example, the village gathers together and sings the child’s song to him or her. When children grow up and marry the village gathers around them and sings their song to send them. The song reminds them to be strong and do their best.
But if a person commits a crime
( مرتکب جرم می شود ), or harms ( صدمه ) someone, the person must go and stand in the center of the village. The people in the village make a circle around the person and sing the person's song.
These African villages believe that the
way to correct a wrong is by helping the person remember his or her real nature
( طبیعت واقعی ). In their culture, a friend is someone who sings your song to you when you have forgotten who you are and made mistakes.
